About
Chair of Social Research and Methodology at the University of Basel. Previous research and teaching affiliations include the Universities of Cambridge, Essex, Florence (European University Institute), Geneva, Johannesburg, Lausanne, Stellenbosch, St. Gall, the Witwatersrand, and Zurich. I hold academic degrees from the University of California (BA), the University of Geneva (MA), and the University of Cambridge (PhD). At present, I am the chair of the 5th World Sustainability Forum 2015 in Basel (http://sciforum.net/conference/wsf-5), Extraordinary Professor at the University of the Western Cape, and Visiting Professor at the University of International Business and Economics, Beijing.
My main academic interests relate to sustainability and global studies, particularly the interdependence of society, business, and government in a globalized world. I focus on how institutional structures, relations, and policies need to be changed to meet the challenges we face today and that we will face in the near future.
